What is a microdose?
A microdose is taking a psychedelic substance like psilocybe mushrooms at a level under 1000mg which is lower then a standard dose for recreational or spiritual purposes. At this low level, there can be mental and physical benefits without any “high” or psychedelic effects.
A typical dose of psilocybe mushrooms for psychedelic purposes would be between 1000mg and 3000mg of dried mushroom. A microdose is much smaller from 50mg up to 750mg.

What are the risks of psilocybin microdosing
Microdoses are generally considered very safe. Using a microdose in the evening can disrupt sleep patterns in some people.
Psilocybin is not chemically addictive, and no physical symptoms occur after stopping use.
Taking too high of a dose of psilocybin can cause powerful feelings. Often positive and healing, but also sometimes feelings of discomfort, increased anxiety, disruption in mood and cognitive impairment. Usually you would need a high dose other than a microdose to feel these kinds of effects. At very high dosages risks can also include hallucinations, paranoia and rarely a temporary drug-induced psychosis.
Some people with underlying mental health disorders may also wish to avoid microdosing. These people may include those with anxiety disorders, who may find that the practice makes anxiety and traits such as neuroticism worse.
People with a history of psychotic disorders, such as schizophrenia, bipolar or other disorders, may also want to avoid microdosing, as the practice may be too stimulating.
There are risks around accidental use by children and pets. Store your mushroom products in a safe location and away from children and pets.
